Subject: An Act to Re-legalized Hemp in Alaska Message

Thank you for the opportunity to contact you and seek your assistance.

On February 3, 2000, in Anchorage, Alaska, the Division of Elections certified a ballot initiative entitled "An Act to Re-legalized Hemp"' for the November 2000, election. Alaskan citizens will have the opportunity in November to be the first state in the United States to vote for the full re-legalization of the hemp plant and all its uses.

Alaskans have the constitutional right to make law through the initiative process on equal footing with the laws enacted by the Alaskan legislature. The initiative petition required 22,000 valid signatures to get it certified by the Division of Elections to be placed on the November ballot. The 99 Hemp Committee, the ballot initiative group, turned in more than 40,000 signatures, and the initiative was placed on the November ballot as a "Ballot Measure."

After certification by the Division of Elections the ballots initiative group, the 99 Hemp committee, was replaced by the Hemp 2000 committee. Hemp 2000 is requesting all of the assistance you can provide to help us educate Alaskans about the many benefits of the hemp plant. Educating the public about the need for the only known annually renewable natural resource that is capable of producing the overall majority of the world's paper and textiles; meet all of the worlds transportation, industrial, and home energy needs, while simultaneously. reducing pollution, rebuilding the soil, and cleaning the atmosphere all at the same time, is probably one of the most important messages available for our present and future generations. Hemp can help replace dwindling oil reserves and provide renewable natural resources.

Hemp 2000 entered into an agreement on Friday, April 28, 2000 to lease their first building, at 410 Denali Street, in downtown Anchorage, Alaska, for the period between May 1, 2000 and November 10, 2000, the date of the election, with an option to extend the lease. Its has ample parking, and easy access from everywhere.

Hemp 2000's building is in the center of the downtown district. The building is next door to Days Inn, and we have arrangements with Days Inn to use their banquet rooms for fund raising dinners, and for entertainment events. Hemp 2000's building is large enough to support hemp seminars and hemp festivals.

Hemp 2000 hopes to arrange a Hemp convention in Alaska this summer to expose Alaskans to the many fine products that are available to the Alaskan public for purchase from the vendors at the convention. This will be a great opportunity for hemp vendors to show and sell their products to the Alaskan public. In the event that certain hemp vendors would like to attend, but are unable to at that time, Hemp 2000 will arrange with the hemp vendors to have their products displayed and sold for them, at their request, during the conventions and other events.

We are currently working on several hemp convention events. The Alaska State Fair, that draws more than a million visitors each year, Tannana valley fair, Talketna Blue grass festival, and several other events. Jack Herer has entered into an agreement with Hemp2000 for speaking engagements, Willie Nelson's public service announcement is being provided to hemp2000 for their use by Normal, Mitch Margo of the tokens, that wrote the lion sleeps tonight, has made Hemp 2000 a patriotic theme TV video for the legalization for hemp backed by the sounds of the Tokens in harmony. Hemp 2000 would welcome anything you could provide for our use in educating the public about hemp and it many uses, anything about the history of hemp. or would be willing to loan to Hemp 2000 for the purpose of educating Alaskans about hemp.

Hemp 2000 wants to hear from everyone wiling to contribute support for the legalization of hemp. Each contribution to support the legalization of hemp may be the very one that was needed to push the "YES" vote on the November Ballot measure over the top. Contributions to support the legalization of hemp in Alaska may be sent to Hemp 2000 by mail as follows .
