Hemp Cultivation in Hungary

The situation in Hungary:

The loss of subsidies in 1998 has caused hemp production in Hungary to decrease dramatically. In 1996, approximately 3,000 acres of hemp were grown within 15 miles of two privatized factories. This is down from five fiber separation factories operating in 1988. Approximately 60% of the hemp grown in Hungary is exported. (see John Dvorak article)

Dear Sir,

We are trying to locate a manufacturer of hemp.  We are hoping you can provide one or more names and contact information.  We are buyers of large quantities of hemp and hope to direct import ourselves.

We do have a name in Hungary, Gordius Ltd., but no contact information.

Thank you for any assistance you may be able to provide.

Very truly yours,

Steve Graham
