6a. How to sow Hemp:
Information is available from the following trials; Tasmania, Australia and Manitoba, Canada
When growing for fiber: Sowing methods from Tasmania, Australia: A cooperative research effort involving the Department of Agricultural Science, University of Tasmania and Australian Newsprint Mills Ltd. commenced early 1994: All trials were established with a sowing rate of 80kg/ha = 71 lbs./acre (1kg = 2.2 lbs., 1 ha = 2.47 acres). The row spacing was 15 cm = 6" (2.5 cm = 1 inch). Fertilizer rates were based on literature recommendations modified according to soil nutrient status. Crops were irrigated when soil moisture deficit exceeded about 35mm = 1˝inches using overhead sprinklers.

Information is available from the following trial; Manitoba, Canada
Mr. Jack Moes of the Manitoba Provincial Government in Canada was involved in cross trials of this Hemp-seed with six other low-THC varieties during the summer of 1995. In Manitoba, Canada Hemp could be sown by mid- May 1995, using conventional seeding equipment.
When growing for Hemp-seed: For planting for Hemp-seed use 18˝ kilograms per hectare or in American amounts 16˝ pounds per acre when cultivating in rows 75 centimeters or 30 inches apart.

Additionally, if you need to cultivate again to suppress weeds in-between the rows you'll need exactly double that amount (37 kg/ha. or 33 lb./acre).
